Literary Text Title’s Status as a Meaningful Unit and its Polyfunctionality

The following artice is aimed at analysing the notion of the title as the very first signemic unit of the literary work. It enables the author to epmhasize not only the notion of the text – main concept which implies more than can be conveyed explicitely but also establish unique communication with the reader. Author’s view and his/her literary-aesthetic intentions are expressed in the title, which acts as a particular link between the reader and the author. There is diverse range of classification of literary titles. According to the scientific works analyzed, we have accumulated some major key types of literary text title functions.
