WEDDING VOCABULARY AND FIGURATIVE EXPRESSIONS IN TAO-KLARJETIAN DIALECTS
Keywords:
Georgian language, Tao-Klarjetian dialects, Georgian dialect vocabulary, wedding vocabularyAbstract
The interest in the vocabulary of Tao-Klarjetian dialects remains relevant as the linguistic landscape of this region continues to change under the influence of the Turkish language. Even though there are many articles or monographs on the above-mentioned issue, a field-specific analysis of the vocabulary and a comparison with the data of other dialects would provide a more complete understanding of the lexical peculiarities of the dialect. From this perspective, it is interesting to observe the vocabulary related to such stable institutions as marital relations and traditions. A number of interesting lexical units and figurative expressions were revealed, which are not only significant from a lexicological standpoint but also hold importance from an ethnoculturological perspective. In addition to the aforementioned factors, the Tao-Klarjetian dialects are strongly influenced by the Turkish language on a daily basis. Consequently, documenting and examining every surviving lexical unit remains an important, urgent, and relevant issue. In the analysis of lexical units, we rely on texts recorded by us during the period of 2004-2018 and those existing in scientific circulation.
