Fake Places of The Knight in the Panther’s Skin According to Alexander Sarajishvili

Abstract

The article discusses Alexander Sarajishvili's monograph "Fake Places of The Knight in the Panther’s Skin". The study was periodically published in the journal “Moambe” from 1895 to 1901. The aim of the researcher's main work was to clear the text of “The Knight in the Panther’s Skin” from the scribes, forgers, and to restore the text close to its original. Al. Sarajishvili established the principles of how and by what means these fake places can be identified. The article, based on specific examples, shows how the researcher tries to identify the places where the poem is inserted and how much his views were shared by his contemporary and later Rustvelologists in their research and various editions of the poem.
