Georgian culture developed alongside the history of Georgia, nourished by traditional ornaments, along with other cultural heritage monuments. Ornamentation has been studied and transferred into various materials. Today, ornamental patterns applied to textiles using embroidery techniques are highly relevant, as well as carpets made in an ethnic style. However, ornaments are rarely seen in knitwear due to the weaving process involved. The paper presents an attempt to transfer selected fragments of old Georgian ornaments, analyzed through their depictions on wood, stone, and textiles, into knitwear, as well as the methods used to create their sketches. Specifically, the work involved extracting traditional ornaments from the gathered materials and creating sketches and weaving schemes for these samples, taking into account the chosen yarn and raw materials. Family-type knitting machines LK150, LK155, and SK280, as well as the flat-bed “ПВПЭМ” machine, were used, with optimal technological weaving parameters determined for each, so that these ornaments could later be woven on the specified knitwear machines. Using the sketches we created, several ornament samples were knitted.
