"Sustainable development" refers to a system of national growth that ensures human well-being, quality of life, and the rights of future generations to benefit from natural resources and the environment. It aims to safeguard these resources as much as possible from both quantitative and qualitative changes, while considering the interests of economic development and environmental protection. Sustainable development emphasizes long-term economic growth with a strong focus on environmental protection. The concept of sustainable development involves several dimensions: environmental, economic, social, and often, institutional. Institutions are key determinants of long-term economic growth and development. They foster economic progress, and the decisions they make impact the successful implementation of sustainable development strategies.
